Baby Brother and Baby Cakes....

Friday, July 31, 2009

This is my little brother Ben. (right)

When he's not playing drums for the band Werewolves
he's working for NYC bakery, Babycakes

They are a popular vegan sweets shop in New York, NY, and because I'm proud of my little bro, I thought I'd just post a little blog about him. Jennifer Aniston came in the shop the other week, but you'll never guess who came in recently... My heart pitter-patters thinking about it. (no it's not Rob Pattinson) but MARTHA! My little brother met Martha Stewart and I wish I was there to sneak in her handbag. (not to steal, but to go home and see her creative palace.)

Here's the founder of Babycakse with Tom Colicchio (another one of my favorites- judge of Top Chef)

This is their little storefront. That's all. Just telling you about Martha and my bro.
P.S. you can order cakes online if you feel so inclined. :)

Sioux Falls meets Southern Charm: Meg & Dean's Wedding...

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Introducing Midwestern fun meets Southern Charm. Meg and Dean currently reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. (I have actually been there and secretly love the midwest) But because they have family all over the USA, they decided to have a destination wedding just outside of Charleston SC at the Old Wide Awake Plantation. Their wedding was so creative and different. I loved all the hand-made touches. There's so much to show you. This wedding had everything: a candy table, pinwheels, rootbeer, moonpies and a cloth photo-booth. (that I rigged right before the wedding). Meg did most everything herself, inspired by Martha. I'll tell you more as we go.

First, at a Southern plantation wedding in July, you must have a way to stay cool, so Meg made these hand-fans for the ceremony out of different printed paper. I love this paper!

Using that cool paper again, Meg made these pinwheels to sit on the reception tables in sand-buckets with little tea-lights. (and she let me take them home after... which was a nice treat since I love crafty little things)

Rings!

This might have been my favorite part! Meg & Dean wanted to give the guests a little "taste" of "home" as a wedding favor, so they sent their party off with Sioux Falls Cowboy Sarsaparilla and Moon-pies!!! How cute is that. (I also LOVE root beer so this just made my heart swell, and it was so hot made my ankles swell too ;)

Moon-pies!!!
Meg's dress was a vintage-style polka dot get-up. I love that she went old fashion with her look on this day.

Can you tell how excited I am? I have so many comments, but I love this hair!

Aren't pinwheels so nostalgic!

Converse for the Gentlemen.

Red shoes. love that.

Cute little grands!

Who doesn't love a cupcake?

Meg & Dean, what a fun wedding! Thanks for letting me be a part of it!

Blue Alice shoot...

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Hello everyone. I am pretty excited about what I'm working on during this tired week! Between my wedding rush I decided to begin a fine arts shoot that will eventually turn into a series I have in the works. While I'm working out the kinks in photoshop, this test shoot turned out WONDERfully. (did you get that pun? you will...) My good friend Sarah modeled for me in these pictures. The goal was to create a storybook character feel with an updated slightly avant-garde fashion. (leaning on master photographer, Annie Leibovitz for inspiration) I made this outfit out of an old prom dress, a second-hand top and an Urban belt.

This is my nouveau inspired Alice in Wonderland... played by the beautiful Sarah Dawn and her new anthropologie tea cups!! (that we ran out and got the day before, for her new kitchen, but just happen to work nicely for the shoot, you know how I feel about tea...).

The next three are 3 different versions of the same photo using different filters and editing technics. They were all so beautiful I couldn't pick just one to present.

This could be one of my favorites...

These are a bit old fashion style editing. I think I'm liking them alot.
