A Day at the Market

Sunday, September 16, 2012

We spent the morning strolling through the Farmer's Market admiring beautiful organic produce. I got caught up at a vendor that recycles clothes from the 70's and makes them into new items... which is why I don't have more photos. I bought a dress. I think it was what I call an "excitement purchase" where you are so excited about something you buy it immediately and don't know later if it's a good purchase. It's a cool native, hippie dress, just not sure about the fit.

I got a lesson on "sugaring" from one of the maple syrup vendors. You can see the photos, he let me make my own maple syrup taffy. He told me stories of growing up in the cold regions of Canada, how he learned to pour the hot syrup on the ice and make treats and all the kids would eat them until they were sick. In that moment I kind of yearned for a simple life, making treats in the snow. So nostalgic and childlike.

Next you get to see what we did with all those vegetables in my favorite shoot of the whole trip; The Lake House.
