Isabel turns One!

Isabel turns one!

Those are triple dark chocolate cherry cupcakes with cherry almond whipped cream. (mint for garnish)

Isabel got so many prizes! I honestly had so much fun opening her presents, it was like a birthday for me... all the cute little outfits and toys! Seriously I was so surprised how much fun I had.

The babies let loose and as you can see Isabel and her little friend Adoration went hunting for rocks to savor. I love those little ruffle buns.

Here's a little video of her first cupcake, a wonderfully delirious experience for her. The parental commentary is kind of funny on it... (Josh was such an encouraging cupcake eater)

What a great day!

Just your average day of making stuff... I will have a two part series on a recent DIY project this week!

Beards & Indian Princesses

Back Into The Wild... A Collaboration with Sully Sullivan from Jewell&Ginnie on Vimeo.

In case you missed this video from my tweet a few weeks ago, I was recently helping my brother-in-law with his website and I came across this from Sully Sullivan... and it's ADORABLE. Ben is the bearded one and Michelle his girl, is the Indian Princess. A little summer love for your weekend.

It's hard being married into a family of models! ;)

Friday This & That...

... and here's another painted floor idea ...

I'm thinking abut taking Isabel to the Farmer's Market on Saturday. That seems like a nice thing to do IF there's no tornadoes and if I don't have a photo-shoot. This tray of vegetables is inspiring to me. You know what I'm into lately? (that I never thought I'd enjoy) Roasted Beets! They are so delicious! That's what got me interested in this picture... and in going to the market... and....

I've been working on finally posting some of the DIY projects I've been creating for months. Sometimes when I'm loaded with wedding work it's hard to keep up with everything else, but Monday I'll have some projects for you to check out!

And, honestly, blogging is going to a whole new level in this house cuz tomorrow... I should be getting a new Imac to add to our brood of overloaded computers. I'm so excited! I will have so much to show you!

And to update my life since it's just me and Isa, well I've had girls over almost every night! It's been great!

Project Week: Inspiration: Painted Floors

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

My husband is in England- which means it's project week at the H household. Every time Josh travels, I use the opportunity to work on house projects. For some reason, I can't focus enough to do them when he's here... but when he's not... it's just me, the paint brushes, glue guns.... (and now Isa-bean) oh and Huckabee... but you get the point.

I have been working on our house one room at a time since we bought it years ago, but the laundry room has remained out-dated and with the door closed. I painted the walls turquoise to give it a surfer- Caribbean feel when we first moved in, because I wanted to have one room that felt different from the house - like we lived on the ocean? Anyway, the floors are awful old linoleum and until now, I didn't care to deal with them. (after all who looks in your laundry room?)

I read on Ellie's blog, Mint Design, a while ago the trend of painting floors... (duh why didn't I think of this sooner) And then my friend Sarah just painted her entry-way floor and it looks better than all these I have posted today! It's so rad I will do a post dedicated to show off her skills. BUT I don't know if you can paint linoleum? But I'm going to try! I'm thinking a solid color, stripes or squares... nothing to crazy... what do you think?

To be continued....

P.S. I just love the first floor featured in Better Homes & Gardens!

So I thought I'd start your Monday with my version of a little farm style... I am a country girl at heart but enjoy the nice grocery stores of the city!

Favorite Spaces: In the Kitchen Part Duex....

Friday, May 20, 2011

Don't you love this kitchen??? Have a great weekend! I'm all over town taking wedding pics this weekend, but I'll be back on Monday with some Fresh material! :)

Where have you been?

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Ok... are you ready for a whole bunch of excuses????

So, this has been my schedule lately...

1. I went to the beach with some babies and mommas and it was so FUN (exhausting) but FUN!

2. I returned home and threw a party for my now 1 YEAR OLD daughter! (more to come... it was such a sweet party thrown together, and we were so blessed by all the love!)

3. Cleaned up my back porch and packed my husband's car as he and Isabel head to the beach with me shortly to follow.

4. I have been extreme couponing... ( i know, don't judge me, I'm not going to start wearing mom jeans, I'm just obsessed with how fun it is!) and I've been watching that show,  "extreme couponing".... more on this ( me and a friend are starting a coupon club... seriously stop judging me) ;)

5. I am building 2 new sites! A wedding & photography site for my biznass.

6. I had a phenomenal photo shoot last weekend with some of the prettiest ladies around... which will grace the new site...

7. I am building an online store! That's right it's coming together.

8... Most importantly, it's wedding season, and this weekend is an insanely awesome wedding weekend, and I've been prepping, purchasing, trading and packing my new equipment!

In case you didn't know because of the hodgepodge of design on this site, I am a wedding photographer... I breathe, eat, sleep weddings... and love it!  Having said that, I'm taking my business to the next level! More on this to come....

In light of that, continue scrolling down to the lower post to find out where I'll be in June!

But don't worry, I will TRY TRY TRY to keep up with the blog world better!

Once Wed

I am excited to announce...

This June I will be joining the Once Wed team in Serenbe, Georgia for several days. I am so looking forward to this! I will be learning from Once Wed publisher, owner and stylist Emily Newman, pictured above, Jose Villa, photographer extraordinaire, who was recently featured here on the blog... and Joy Thigpen, creative director and editorial stylist. Could there be a better team? Don't worry I'll blog all about it so you can feel like you're there with me!

Did I mention we'll be shooting in a farmhouse, and staying in the beautiful featured Inn? I CAN'T wait!

Designer Spaces: A Room Within a Room!

Monday, May 16, 2011

Isn't this the coolest idea??? If you lived in an open, one-room style house but wanted to still feel like you had a cozy place to sleep without living in your bedroom, build one of these! I can't get over how much I like this idea. Especially for kiddies! What a cool room, and functional on the outside too. I don't know why these made me so excited, but they do. See the rest here... but beware it's in a different language!

Friday, May 13, 2011

Hello! The cookbook winners will be announced next week! I'm on Vacation right now and just can't be bothered to get online while the sun is so bright out here! :) See you soon.

Today I'm inspired by... indigo & cobalt blue! I also want to say I have a new favorite art photographer. Seriously, I found these Kate Mathis images recently and I can't get over how much her stuff speaks to me. I didn't want to just copy and paste. You have to go to her site to look at it... her metallic and indigo series is amazing to me.

If I am anything good, it is because of my mother. My mother is not just a wonderful mom, but she is a supreme artist, designer and friend. I've never had a better friend than my mom. I could do a thousand posts about what she means to me.

This is her little studio where she paints and plays. My childhood is filled with watching my mother move color around on canvases. I distinctly remember her painting on the sun porch where we grew up, mixing cerulean blue and windsor red on her palette. She made me alive to color and be the artist I am today with deep appreciation for all things beautiful.

Beyond her creativity, I'd be a melted puddle without her. I don't know if I would have survived my life,  especially pregnancy and new motherhood without her relentless care & compassion.

Thanks mom, you are my inspiration. With a good mom, you can be anything.

To see more of her work visit here.
