Wedding Favors

Here's a simple DIY party favor you can customize with your favorite treats. These little glass jars are available at Michael's Craft Store. I used Trader Joe's Petite Cocoa Batons for this project: they're cute, delicious and tiny. Perfect for any occasion.

Enjoy!

Southern Engagement

In the past I have photographed only a limited amount of engagement sessions per year due to time. But this one, still remains my favorite. It makes me want to do another field shoot... so I'm going to begin opening times for more smaller sessions because I forgot how beautiful and special they can be. Holler if you want to pencil in. Isn't this so lovely?

a week of wedding inspiration

In every creative field, you need refreshing after a while when you work on similar projects. I've been shooting primarily weddings for a long time now. I am currently building a secondary site for other shoots I've been working on the past year which caused me to explore new creative photography mediums. But the truth is, I still love shooting weddings! So this week I'm dedicating to weddings. I'm going to show you my three past favorite shoots with Once Wed, because they are still my favorites and they've been re-vamped a little. I've got some inspiration boards, DIY favors and wedding tips. Stay tuned!

If you are planning a wedding and need a photographer or just need some help, feel free to send me a note.

cheap, healthy dinner in a hurry!

Friday, January 18, 2013

Are you ready for the easiest dinner ever? And it costs about $6-8 for everything including toppings. And serves 4 adults.

Take Trader Joes (or equivalent) canned vegan organic chili, pour in bottom of a baking dish. Mix your favorite cornbread mix. I like the good old 50 cent Martha blue box you can find at most grocery stores. Pour mixture on top... bake as cornbread directs. Serve with sliced avocado, salad greens and dollop of greek yogurt. So far- almost vegan (egg in the cornbread & dairy in the yogurt).

Simple Pleasures

Monday, January 14, 2013

We don't necessarily need pretty things to survive, but sometimes the small details make average living feel special.

I thought I'd share a few favorite things that have made my days a little brighter.

I have always hated perfume smells- because often they make me sick. Some of them instantly make me dizzy and nauseous. And then other times, something smells good in the bottle but doesn't mingle with my personal scent... I'm serious. But anyway, recently I was in one of my favorite shops in Charleston and discovered a smell that made me kind of swoon. And I kind of feel like a woman when I wear it.

Speaking of Swoon... I promise that pun wasn't intentional, but it's awesome... I have a new favorite necklace... I mean I will wear it with everything I have if I can. I LOVE love this necklace. It was handmade from Kim Dean of Swoon . She doesn't have her new stuff up yet, but if you want a custom design I can't tell you how amazing her artwork is- and how special this necklace makes me feel.

This summer I had the absolute pleasure of studying under Chef, Stylist, Food Writer and Photographer Aran Goyoaga. I am still inspired daily by her and what I've learned, and luckily a few months after her book released I can continue learning from her at home. So I've been cooking my way through her book Small  Plates & Sweet Treats, that you can purchase online or at Anthropologie. And I've been letting her inspire me to practice every day, my kind of styling and story-telling through food. And I've been using her recipes to try new variants and practice on my friends.

So there you go, my small pleasures and new inspirations. What are yours?
